IU Dawah dept 1st alumni reunion held

IU Live: The first reunion of the Islamic University (IU) 'Dawah and Islamic Studies department was held at the campus in Kushtia on Saturday amid much enthusiasm and festivity.

Marking the day, the teachers, officials, students, alumni, and staff brought out a colourful procession from the faculty building and paraded the main roads of the campus and ended in front of the auditorium. Later, discussion meetings and cultural programmes were held there.

IU VC Professor Dr Sheikh Abdus Salam was the chief guest, while Prof D Shaheed Mohammad Rezwan presided over the programme. Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Hossain conducted the event while Treasurer Prof Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, Syndicate Member Shahajan Alam Saju, Dean Professor Dr Ershad Ullah, Chairman of the dept Prof Dr Mohammad Wali Ulyah were present as special guests.

Speaking on occasion, the IU VC thanked the authorities concerned for forming the alumni association. About one thousand former and current teachers and students of the department took part in the reunion.

The daylong programme concluded by holding a cultural performance by current and former students and teachers of the department, followed by reminiscences and spontaneous performances from the alumni.
