IU Live: Islamic University (IU) academic council has decided not to participate in the admission test of the General, Science, and Technology (GST) for the academic year 2022–23.

The decision was reached at the 125th Academic Council (Emergency) meeting held at the Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of the university on Sunday.

University sources said at least 160 members were present at the academic council meeting out of 250, and all members unanimously decided to withdraw from the GST admission and conduct their own admission process.

IU Teachers' Association, GS, Prof Dr Tapan Kumar, said “It was unanimously decided in the academic council meeting that Islamic University will not be in the group. We have requested the university administration to complete the admission process for the academic year 2022-23 by June 30 and start classes from July 1.”

VC Professor Dr Sheikh Abdus Salam could not be reached over phone despite repeated attempts to contact him.
