Four CoU students start hunger strike demanding justice over attack

COU Live: Four students of Comilla University (CoU) has started hunger strike on the campus demanding justice over the attack on their three fellows by outsiders. Enayet Ullah of Public administration department, Salaman Chowdhury of Finance and banking department; Imtiaz Shaharia and Kajal Hossain of ICT department took part in the hunger strike in front of Bangabandhu’s statue on the campus at about 4.00pm on Sunday.
Our Observer campus correspondent reports that the agitating students held a press conference before staring their hunger strike.
The demands include arrest of the outsiders, who attacked the students, ban on the entry of outsiders on the campus, withdrawal of expulsion order of injured students Enayet Ullah and Md Salman Chowdhury and removal of university proctor Kazi Omar Siddiqui.
Agitating student Kajol Hossain said they will continue their protest until the demands are not met. “Today is the 11th day of the movement but authorities of the university do not pay heed to our demands yet.”
The university vice-chancellor Dr. AFM Abdul Moyeen met with the agitating students in the evening and asked them to call off the hunger strike. He also said them that they will discuss the demands placed by students. However, agitating students said they will continue their protest until their demands are met.
On March 8, three students of the university were beaten by outsiders in the afternoon in a shop in front of the main gate of the campus.
