IU observes 49thVictory Day

IU Live: The authorities of Islamic University (IU) observed 49th Victory Day on the campus in Kushtia on Monday paying homage to the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice to free the country from Pakistani occupation forces.

The University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag while its Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university’s administrative building around 9:30am.

The teachers, officials, students and employees of the university brought a colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor from in front of the administrative building after releasing balloon in the sky.

The procession ended in front of Mukta Bangla after parading main streets of the campus.

Later, the university authorities, IUTA, Bangabandhu Parisad, Shapla Forum, Zia Parisad, and IU Press Club, IUJA and different halls, students and teachers associations placed floral wreaths at Mukta Bangla.

IU Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, IUTA president Prof Kamal Uddin, Proctor Prof Dr M Paresh Chandra Barman, Former Proctor and syndicate member Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, IIER director Prof M Maher Ali, TSCC director Prof Dr M Mizanur Rahman Economics Department chairman Prof Dr Debashish Sharma, Assistant Proctor Shahed Ahamed, Assistant Prof Partho Sarathi Laskar took part on the procession.

Among others, BCL activist Towkir Mahfuz Masud, Shishir Islam Babu, Mijanur Rahman Lalon, Faisal Siddique Arafat, Masud Rana Linckon were present here. A Cultural programme, sports and debate competition and food distribution function was also held to mark the day.

Earlier, provosts of all the residential halls hoisted the national flag and university flag atop their respective halls in the morning.
