Live Correspondent: Issuing an ultimatum, a section of leaders and workers of Eden College Chhatra League have demanded the resignation of Eden College Chhatra League president and general secretary within the next 24 hours.

Otherwise, they said they will resign from the organization. Though the central unit of the Chhatra League has formed a two-member committee to probe the matter, the angry leaders and workers have rejected it.

A tense situation has been prevailing on the campus following the complaint of physically assaulting vice-president Jannatul Ferdous.

All the residential students of Shaheed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Girls' Hostel were kept confined after assaulting college BCL VP Jannatul Ferdous on Saturday night.

The angry students claimed that students of the dormitory had assaulted Jannatul Ferdous along with the college BCL president and general secretary at night. Besides, they alleged the high-handedness of the president on campus.

In such a situation, general students of the college are now facing a dilemma. The situation is aggravating gradually owing to the 2nd year and Master's examinations.

In order to resolve the situation, none of the central committee of BCL was found until Sunday afternoon. Though they announced the formation of a two-member committee to probe the matter in a press release early Sunday afternoon, a section of the Eden College BCL rejected it outright.

Eden College BCL president Tamanna and general secretary Razia claimed the allegations brought against them as "baseless." They said that none of them was on the spot on Saturday night.

It is learned that Jannatul Ferdous is Eden College BCL vice-president and a residential student of Begum Razia Girls Hostel. She gave interviews to mass media on September 22 last alleging various irregularities, extortion, selling of hall seats, and occupying hostels against the BCL VP and GS.

Two days after the interviews, followers of Eden College BCL president and general secretary threatened to kick her out of the hall at about 11:00 pm on Saturday (September 24). There are allegations that she was harassed and beaten by the followers of Eden College BCL president and general secretary.

Following the incident, tension had spread over the Eden College campus owing to the demonstration by a section of leaders and workers of BCL on Saturday midnight. The demonstrators demanded the expulsion of Riva and Razia from Eden College.
