Mashrafe, Apu & Nafees infected with coronavirus

Sports Live: Former Tigers’ captain and MP from Narail-2 constituency Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been diagnosed with coronavirus. Mashrafe confirmed the matter in a post on his official Facebook page in the afternoon. “Today my (test) result cane COVID-19 positive.

Everyone please pray for me so that I get well soon,” he wrote the post along with a photo wearing a mask. The pacer also said he is receiving treatment staying at home and following necessary rules.

Mentioning that the number of coronavirus cases has exceeded 1 lakh in the country, Mashrafe said, “We all need to be more aware now. Let’s not venture outside without any need.” Awareness needs to be raised about corona, not panic, he said.

Earlier, Mashrafe’s friend Babul said he underwent test on Friday and the report came out positive on Saturday. He said the ‘Narail Express’ had been suffering from fever for the last few days. Currently, he remains in isolation at his residence in Dhaka, said Mashrafe’s another friend Soumen Chandra Basu.

The former Bangladesh skipper remains in good mental health, Basu said, adding that his temperature dropped to 99 Fahrenheit from Friday’s 101. "His family members are also well." Earlier, Mashrafe’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law were infected with coronavirus on June 14.

Apu diagnosed with Covid-19:

National left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu has now tested positive for coronavirus.
Apu himself confirmed the matter to the media on Saturday. He said he went to Narsingdi last week to distribute relief and fell sick after returning from there.

Nafees infected with coronavirus:

Nafees Iqbal, former national cricketer and elder brother of Tigers’ ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, has tested positive for coronavirus.Family sources said Nafees, 34, was diagnosed with Covid-19 a number of days ago.

But he was physically well and faced no major problem until now. The former opener remains in isolation at their Kazir Deuri residence in Chattogram city.

Nafees distributed cash assistance among local coaches at the initiative of Tamim recently. Soon after that, he tested positive for coronavirus. Nafees who made debut in November 2003 for Bangladesh played 11 Tests and 16 ODIs.
