Sports Live: Bangladeshi cricketers enjoyed some leisure time on Saturday in Oman after completing a four-day preparation camp before starting their ICC T20 World Cup campaign next week. Cricketers spent their rest day doing kayaking at Qantab Beach in Muscat and later many cricketers shared their photos on different social media handles.
The Tigers will fly to Abu Dhabi today (08:00 pm BST) to feature in two practice games hosted by the ICC respectively against Sri Lanka and Ireland on October 12 and 14.
Later they will return back to Oman to start their campaign by taking part in the qualifying round and they need to progress as one of the top two sides from their Group B to make it to the Super 12s.
Bangladesh will start its campaign against Scotland on October 17 before taking on Oman and PNG on October 19 and 21 respectively. Meanwhile, the Tigers should be satisfied with their performance against the Oman A team on Friday after their batsmen had some good batting practice against the hosts and earn a 60-run win.
Both openers Liton Das and Mohammad Naim scored the fifties while Nurul Hasan played a blazing knock of unbeaten 49 off 15 balls with seven sixes as the Tigers made 207-4 before restricting the opposition for 147-9.
“The match was very crucial for us. We will play two qualifier matches here at night. So we will try to take more preparation from now on,” he added.
The Tigers’ only concern at the moment is Mahmudullah’s fitness as he missed the practice game due to a sore back and might miss the next game as well in order to recover completely.
It was learned Mahmudullah picked up the back pain after acting as a throw-down specialist in the nets in order to help Shamim and Soumya Sarkar with their batting.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh video analysts Shrinivas Chandrasekaran and Mustafizur Rahman had already left the IPL bubble and entered the team hotel bubble in Abu Dhabi.
Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan is expected to join the Tigers’ bubble after completing his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL and he’s likely to miss the practice games in Abu Dhabi.
