Sports Live: Upbeat Bangladesh are aiming to put up a good fight to produce a positive result as they face Middle Eastern nation Oman in their away match of FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled to be held tomorrow (Thursday) at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman. The match kicks off at 9 pm (BST).

Bangladesh is at the bottom of the five-team table with one point from three outings, thanks to a 1-1 draw against India in their last match in Kolkata. Oman are 100 places ahead of Bangladesh in FIFA ranking and are set to take on Bangladesh for the first time, coming into the match on the back of 2-1 defeat against group leaders Qatar.

The hosts are in second position in the group with six points from three matches while Asian Champions Qatar has 10 points from four matches. It will not be an easy task for Jamie Day’s men as Oman is definitely going to be very tough side and the coach has already briefed the players regarding the team’s approach.

“Yes it will be a tough match for us tomorrow … we know Oman are good organised and have some good players who can score goal …… but it will be our job to prevent Oman, said the team’s captain Jamal Bhuiyan at a pre match press conference today (Wednesday).

“So far our training was very good………we are going to the match tomorrow with a hundred percent confident ……. Oman is very strong side and we will have to respect them,” he added

The boys in red and green are looking to carry on the momentum from the games against Qatar and India and hoping to make fewer mistakes than their first three matches. The boys have already accustomed with the local condition in Oman and everyone is fit and in good shape and hoped to produce a positive result like the last match against India.

In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will play Afghanistan on March 26 next year in Bangladesh, Qatar on March 31 in Qatar, India on June 4 in Bangladesh and Oman on June 9 in Bangladesh.
