Indian envoy meets BGMEA president

Business Live: Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das made a courtesy call on Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Dr. Rubana Huq at the BGMEA office here today.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to move forward the existing bilateral trade relations further between Bangladesh and India. Riva Ganguly said readymade garment is an important sector of Bangladesh and the export of the apparel items to India has been increased for duty free access.

Terming India as one of the big markets for Bangladeshi RMG, Rubana Huq said Bangladesh also imports fabrics and some other items from India and it is a win-win situation for both the countries.

The BGMEA President said both the countries have enormous opportunities of bilateral trade and that is why export oriented connectivity issues should be implemented along with infrastructure development for greater benefit. Deputy High Commissioner of India Dr Adarsh Swaika, BGMEA Senior Vice President Foysal Samad, Vice President Md Mashiul Azam and directors were present.
