Skrill to start operations in Bangladesh

IT Live: United Kingdom-based global electronic fund transfer service Skrill is set to start operations in Bangladesh, which will bring pace in remittance inflow into the country. State-run Sonali Bank Limited will lead the local franchisee which enables Skrill users to send fund directly to any Bangladeshi bank account, said a handout of ICT Division on Tuesday.

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, now visiting London, met Skrill Chief Executive Lorenzo Pellegrino to develop the service. Bangladeshi High Commissioner to UK Saida Muna Tasneem was also present on the occasion.

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said :"This is a big step for Digital Bangladesh and our vision to help our young generation, especially those who make a living working online, to participate in the global market,".

Skrill Chief Executive Lorenzo Pellegrino said Bangladesh is a very important country for Skrill and we are very excited to help Bangladeshis participate in the global digital market using Skrill.

Sonali Bank Deputy General Manager Abdul Wahab termed the agreement as ‘a big achievement’ as the state-run financial is going to fulfill the wishes of our young generation who are both global and online.
