Int’l e-Confce on Japanology: New Era begins at DU

DU Live: A two-day long international e-Conference on Japanology In New Era has begun at Dhaka University on Thursday. Japanese Studies Department of DU organised the conference on the occasion of DU centenary.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this conference as chief guest.

Founder Chairman of DU Japanese Studies Department Prof Dr Abul Barkat presided over the inaugural session while Japanese Ambassador Naoki Ito addressed it as special guest.

Chairman of the department Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun gave welcome address.

DU VC Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said, a friendly relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and Japan for a long time.

This conference on Japanology has been able to draw the attention of international community as participants will share ideas and resources on Japanese society, culture, arts, history, economy and other issues by presenting 66 research papers in this two-day conference.

He emphasised on strengthening more collaborations and cooperations among academicians and researchers to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution and achieve SDGs.

Japanese Ambassador Naoki Ito thanked DU authorities for arranging this international e-Conference marking the DU centenary.

He said, this conference will enhance cultural and academic ties between Bangladesh and Japan.

Japan will extend its supports and cooperations to Dhaka University especially Japanese Studies Department in the days to come, he pointed out.

Scholars from Bangladesh, USA, UK, Japan, UAE, India, Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia. Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Singapore will present papers in sixteen sessions of this two-day conference.
