Bangladeshi student leads the Chinese university student union

 

Live Desk: Bangladeshi student Mohammad Saiyedul Islam has won the post of Chairperson (President) in the first competitive election of the International Student Union held at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, one of the leading educational institutions in China.

Yina Wan, Vice Dean of the University's School of Overseas Education announced the election results on Tuesday evening, according to news received from China.

Mohammad Saiyedul Islam was elected for the post of Chairperson defeating three competitors and he will hold this office for the next year.

Mohammad Saiyedul Islam is currently studying International Trade major in the university's Ph.D. program on a scholarship from the Chinese government.

For higher education, in 2018, he was admitted to the International Business major in the master's program at the same university on a scholarship from the Chinese government.

Moreover, another Bangladeshi student, Mohammad Akbar Hossain was elected unopposed for the post of Minister of the Volunteer Department.

The annual election of the student union was held in two phases. In the first phase, the eligibility of the students contesting the election was verified and the election speech was presented. In the second phase, teachers and students elected representatives by voting.

The institution, which is one of China's leading universities, has 400 foreign students. The International Student Union works for the protection and welfare of foreign students.
