Prof Satya Prasad made new VC of BUET

BUET Live: Professor Dr Satya Prasad Majumder of the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) has been made the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

President Abdul Hamid has appointed him for the next four years, according to an official release of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued on Thursday.

The order also said the President who is also the chancellor of the university could cancel the appointment at any time if he deems it necessary. 

Satya Prasad is replacing Saiful Islam, another professor of the same department.

Prof Saiful, who was appointed as the VC of the country’s premier and prestigious university in 2016, faced a strong movement following the murder Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of EEE department of Buet, last year.
