VC BRUR pays tribute to martyred at Aiirkhamar mass grave

BRU Live: Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University (BRU) Professor Dr Md Hasibur Rashid today paid rich tribute to martyred freedom fighter Khandker Mukhtar Elahi and other martyred at Aiirkhamar mass grave in Lalmonirhat district.

The tribute was paid to 19 martyred Bangalees, including freedom fighter Khandker Mukhtar Elahi, in observance of the 50th anniversary of the genocide conducted by the Pakistani occupation army at Aiirkhamar village on November, 9 in 1971.

After placing a wreath at the monument erected at Aiirkhamar mass grave in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila, the Vice-chancellor offered doa and special munajats there seeking divine blessings for the departed souls of the heroic martyrs.

Former Professor of Bloomsburg University in the United States Dr K Mushtaq Elahi, Student Advisor of BRUR Md Nuruzzaman Khan, its Director of Outdoor Activities Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Md Mashiur Rahman were present.

Later, the Vice-chancellor attended a commemorative discussion on 'The life and philosophy of Khondker Mukhtar Elahi' arranged by North Bengal Museum at its office in Kurigram district town as the chief guest.

Chairman of Kurigram District Council Md Zafar Ali as the special guest attended the function conducted by Founder of North Bengal Museum and Public Prosecutor of Kurigram Advocate SM Abraham Lincoln.
