One held for using proxy in JU

JU Live: One person was detained while he as a proxy examinee was appearing the 1st year honors admission test of Jahangirnagar University (JU) under academic session 2020-21. The detainee was identified as Shipon Tohidul Hasan, resident of Haturia union of Gosairhat Upazila under Shariatpur district.

Campus sources said the invigilator at the biotechnology and genetic engineering department found some dissimilarities while cross-checking the handwriting and face of the examinee.

Later, Executive Magistrate Rahmat Ullah of Savar circle on Sunday night sentenced him to a seven days imprisonment as per the Public University Examination (offense) Act 1860.

Earlier, accused Shipon appeared at the fifth shift of the entrance test for social science faculty (B unit) of the university, introducing himself as Nazmul Hoque. The entrance test of JU under the academic session of 2020-21 started on November 9 and scheduled to end on November 22.
