RU to ensure supports to physically challenged students

RU Live: Rajshahi University (RU) has adopted some time-fitting measures to ensure an enabling situation to the students with special needs aimed at making their academic life easier.

As part of the initiatives, the university will keep five seats in each of the RU buses reserved for the physically challenged students to make theirmobility smooth. Ramp will be established in the entry points of all academic, administrative and dormitory buildings side by side with the conventional stairs.

Besides, seats will be ensured in ground floors of the dormitories for the first-year students with physical disabilities on priority basis. Apart from this, the visually impaired students will get 10 minutes extra in examinations. Supportive people will also be ensured for them.

Authorities of the university took the decision in a syndicate meeting recently, RU sources said.
