BRU: Bangabandhu's return fulfilled the ultimate victory

BRU Live: Ultimate fulfillment of the much awaited victory of the Bengali nation came on December 10, 1972 with the return of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to his homeland.

Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Prof. Dr Md Hasibur Rashid said this while addressing a virtual discussion arranged in celebration of the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus as the chief guest today.

The Vice-chancellor with Pro Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr Sarifa Salwa Dina placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu on the campus to pay homage to Him (Bangabandhu), the architect of independent Bangladesh.

Later, tributes were paid to Bangabandhu on behalf of different faculties, departments and teachers' association, Bangabandhu Parishad, social and cultural organizations of the university.

The Vice-chancellor said Bangabandhu took initiative to introduce Bangladesh in the international arena and gained recognition by visiting London and India before returning home on January 10, 1972 after being released from the jail in Pakistan.

"This is an extremely rare phenomenon in the political history of the world," he said.

He stressed on disseminating true national history and history of the War of Liberation among the younger generations to inspire them with patriotic zeal in building a prosperous 'Sonar Bangla' to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu.

Addressing the virtual discussion as a special guest, Professor Dr. Sarifa Salwa Dina said, "The Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu is a very important day in our national life and history.

With Convener of the Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day-2022 celebration committee Associate Prof. Kamlesh Chandra Roy in the chair, Director (In-charge) of Student Counseling and Guidance Division Md Nuruzzaman Khan moderated the discussion.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts Dr. Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Md. Shariful Islam, General Secretary of BRUR Unit of Bangabandhu Parishad Md. Moshiar Rahman, Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing Sheikh Majedul Haque, among others, participated in the virtual discussion.
