Live Correspondent: Rajshahi University authorities have fired two teachers permanently and suspended another teacher's promotion for breaching the university act.

The decision was taken at the 514th syndicate meeting of the university on Sunday night, said Assistant Professor Sadiqul Islam Sagor, a member of the syndicate.

The fired teachers are assistant professor Umme Habiba of the Psychology department and Salma Khatun of the Islamic History and Culture department. Suspended Bishnu Kumar Adhikari is an assistant professor at the Education and Research Institute.

Umme Habiba was fired for being absent from the university without official notice while Salma Khatun for forging the signature of her supervisor.

The promotion of Bishnu Kumar Adhikari has been halted for 4 years. The step was taken after a probe committee found him guilty of an allegation of sexual harassment filed by a student.

Assistant Professor Sadiqul Islam Sagor said these decisions have been taken on basis of the recommendation of the probe committee.
