Youth can turn Bangabandhu's Bangladesh into a golden Bengal

Live Correspondent: Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said only the youth can turn Bangabandhu's independent Bangladesh into a golden Bengal. We need to empower those young people and educate them in right way.

She made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural function titled ‘Fresher’s Day and University Invented Blended Learning Solution’ organised by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BDU) on Wednesday morning (June 01).

Information technology and science should be given more priority to take Bangladesh ahead, she said adding, “Young people will not only prepare for their work and employment. They will become entrepreneurs and provide jobs to many more people.”

The minister said, “In just 4 years under the leadership of Professor Dr Munaj Ahmed Noor, BDU has been operating offices on virtual machines, providing ICT dependent classrooms, e-library facilities for students to conduct academic activities, language laboratory, physics laboratory, IO, Electronics Laboratory, Data Center,

Interactive Digital Board, Learning Management System (LMS), Massive Open Online Course (Silent), My BDU Mobile App, Exam Management System (EMS) Installation, Student Access Card Issuance, Web Hosting & Domain, launching Google G-Suite for Education, Creating Procto Remote Exam System Software, Data Management and Analytics Laboratory, IoT Laboratory, Blended Classroom Solution and Blended Education Supported Live Classroom.”

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor said, "Today's digital Bangladesh is the modern form of the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream." Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman embarked on a technology-oriented journey in 1973 by becoming a member of the International Telecommunication Union. Digital Bangladesh has been established under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

The VC said that the changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) must be incorporated in our education system. Because, 4IR will create a new society by combining these three things, man, technology and nature. We have to shape our education system based on how this society will look like.

The 4IR will bring about changes in the future society, the future work and the future economy. We need to build our education system with these three things in mind.”

Registrar Md Ashraf Uddin thanked everybody in the programme under the moderation of Md Ashrafuzzaman, Head of Education Department, and Farzana Akhter, Head of Information and Communication Technology Department.
