1st Public Administration Day observed at Nazrul University

JKKNIU Live: The 1st Public Administration Day was observed on the Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University campus in Mymensingh on Thursday. The main theme of this day's celebration was 'Enhancing Knowledge on Digital Governance and Innovation in the age of 4IR'.

With the theme, the Department of Public Administration and Governance Studies celebrated its 12th year of establishment with much fanfare, enthusiasm and festivity.

The department chalked out a series of programmes including discussions and rallies to celebrate the anniversary as Public Administration Day.

Marking the occasion, a discussion meeting was held at the Gahi Sammer Gaan Muktamancha on campus.

Addressing the programme as chief guest, Nazrul University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Soumitra Shekhar said the aim of our university is to develop the creative energy of the students through cultural education as well as general education, science and engineering, social sciences and business administration.

“We want to contribute to the achievement of national development goals through research and innovation of appropriate technology for the modern and sustainable development of the country.

It is expected that the Department of Public Administration will play a key role in the advancement of education, research, and development in Nazrul University as well as dealing with the fourth industrial revolution,” he said Mymensingh City Corporation Mayor Ekramul Haque Titu inaugurated the event.

“The fourth industrial revolution is an ongoing process of automation of conventional production and industrial systems using modern and smart technology.  The government, education, and research institutions, as well as a civil society, must work together to create an inclusive and generous future,” he said.

Social Science Faculty Dean Dr Md Nazrul Islam and Registrar Dr Md Humayun Kabir were present as special guests.

Bangladesh Open University Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Nasim Banu attended the event as a keynote speaker and Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme Project Director (Joint Secretary) Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir as a motivational speaker.

Dr Dewan said the use of modern technology of the 4th industrial revolution, indigenous innovation, and good governance will be the key to building a self-reliant smart Bangladesh.

Head of the department Azizur Rahman presided over the discussion meeting while Sanjay Kumar Mukherjee delivered a welcome address and Shahjada Ahsan Habib gave the vote of thanks.

Md Harunur Rashid moderated the meeting and a souvenir on 1st public administration day was launched in the programme. Azizur Rahman was the editor and Md. Ashikur Rahman was the associate editor of that souvenir.
