DUAA celebrates 74th founding anniversary

DU Live: The 74th founding anniversary of Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) was celebrated on Saturday through various programmes.

DU Vice-Chancellor and chief patron of the association Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated these programmes for the founding anniversary at TSC on the DU campus.

DUAA President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury presided over the opening ceremony while Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present as the chief guest.

In addition, former President of DUAA Mohammad Farashuddin, media personality Shaykh Seraj, Supreme Court Justice Md Jahangir Hossain, Vice-President of DUAA Selima Khatun, alumni Dr Benazir Ahmed, former Secretary General of DUAA Ranjan Karmakar and current Secretary General Molla Mohammad Abu Kawser were present, among others.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the newly-formed executive committee of the association and expressed hope that the leaders of the association, alumni, teachers and researchers will take the university forward by taking various initiatives towards innovation and entrepreneurship including basic and practical research.

He called upon all concerned including the members of the Dhaka University Alumni Association to contribute to the overall development of the university including increasing the quality of education.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said most of those who led the country's independence struggle and Liberation War were teachers and students of Dhaka University.

"DU students are working very efficiently and successfully in various professions. Dhaka University has been playing a glorious role in guiding the country and nation," he said.

He expressed hope that the students of this university will play an important role in the development and progress of the country in the future. The programme was followed by a cultural fest.
