Buet Live: The investigators of the murder case of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Fardin Noor Parash shifted their focus from drug-related issues to his movements on the night of November 4.

Police investigators from the Detective Branch stated that they were unable to obtain a clear picture of Fardin's drug involvement and were now attempting to piece together detailed information about his movements on that night.

DB investigators said that they were yet to know how Fardin’s cellphone active location was spotted in Chanpara, how he traveled to different places that night, and whether he was alone or accompanied by others.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's additional deputy commissioner for DB Motijheel Rafiqul Islam said that Fardin was spotted riding a rickshaw in Rampura, where he dropped off his friend Amatullah Bushra.

Police are yet to confirm how he left Rampura, whether he used Rampura DIT Road or Banasree-Demra-Staff Quarter Road.

The decomposed body of Fardin, 23, was recovered from the river Sitalakhya in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj on November 7 afternoon, three days after he went missing.

Fardin's friend Bushra was arrested and placed on remand in police custody in connection with the murder case.

DB investigators said that they did not find any evidence of her involvement in the disappearance and murder of Fardin.

Meanwhile, some residents of Chanpara, Rupganj, said that the Rapid Action Battalion had detained three youths from the slum during a raid in Bauphal, Patuakhali.

Raihan Mahmud, Ujjal Hossain, and Rony were picked up by RAB on Saturday, according to Raihan’s wife, Dolly Begum.

The three were close to Shahin, a youth who was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ with RAB on Thursday.

When contacted, RAB’s media wing director, Khandaker Al-Moin, said that they had launched a shadow investigation but were yet to crack the case.

Moin said that they did not pick anyone from the Chanpara slum in connection with the murder case.

Expressing disappointment over the lack of progress in the probe, Fardin’s father, Kazi Nuruddin, said that police were not sharing anything with his family about their findings over the murder investigation.
