Butterfly fair held at Jahangirnagar University

JU Live: A day-long butterfly fair was held on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus today amid festivity.

JU Zoology Department organized the fair on the Zahir Raihan auditorium premises of the university to raise awareness to conserve butterflies in the environment.

JU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Sheikh Md Manzurul Huq inaugurated the fair as the chief guest by releasing balloons at 10:00 am.

The daylong fair featured with drawing competition for children, a photography exhibition, a butterfly exhibition, a butterfly-shaped kite flying competition for children, a butterfly race, a debate competition, and a documentary exhibition on 'Butterfly and its Habitat'.

This year, Butterfly Award-2022 was given to the 'Tarupallab' organization for its contribution to conserving nature, and the Butterfly Young Enthusiast-2022 award was given to Dipto Biswas of Dhaka University's Zoology department. 

Mentionable, the Zoology department of JU in association with Cute Ltd, Prakriti O Jibon Foundation, and Channel I has been organizing the fair since 2010.
