1971 veteran, former JU VC Prof Alauddin Ahmed passes away

Live Correspondent: Professor Dr. Alauddin Ahmed, former Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) died today at the age of 75.

The veteran educationist and former Education Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh breathed his last around 3.30 pm while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital.

JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nurul Alam expressed deep shock at the death of Prof Alauddin Ahmed.

The VC also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Dr. Alauddin Ahmed was a renowned Educationist, politician, former Education Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and former Member of Parliament representing the Kishoreganj-1 constituency.

Prof Alauddin was born in the Kishoreganj district. He served as the Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University from 16 July 1998 to 1999.

He also served as an Educational, Social Development, and Political Affairs Adviser to Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s second cabinet in 2009.
