Nazrul University Anthropology dept celebrates founding anniv

 

Live Correspondent: The 6^th founding anniversary of Anthropology Department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University was celebrated on Thursday in Mymensingh.

The Department of Anthropology celebrated the event with much fanfare, enthusiasm and festivity.

Marking the celebration, a series of programmes, including discussion, rally and cultural programme, were chalked out.

A discussion program was held in the department at 10 am. Head of the department and assistant professor K. M. Mahmudul Haque presided over the programme while Assistant Professor Asif Ekbal Arif, Assistant Professor Jannatul Naiym, Lecturer Swapna Papul, Lecturer Jewel Molla and Lecturer Firoz Ahmed attended it.

The first biannual literary magazine of the department was unveiled. A compilation of students' fieldwork reports over six years is also published. After that a number of teachers and students brought out a colourful rally that paraded through the campus. 

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Soumitra Sekhar Dey congratulated the department on its founding anniversary.

He said, “The aim of our university is to develop creative energy of the students through cultural education as well as general education, science and engineering, social sciences and business administration.”

It is expected that the Department of Anthropology will play a key role in advancement of education, research, and development in Nazrul University as well as to form Smart Bangladesh, Prof Soumitra Shekhar added.
