Sports Live: Expressing solidarity with the demands of national cricketers, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon should resign from his position.

“The BCB president has to step down from his post. But it is (resignation of BCB chief) is urgent. I don’t prefer to say this. But it is the fact according to my source,” the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ said.

He made this comment appearing on his verified YouTube channel on Wednesday, where he slammed the BCB chief and urged him to resign.

In the video, Shoaib discussed the ongoing crisis of Bangladesh cricket and clarified the reason behind his demand of the BCB president’s resignation.

“This guy [BCB president] is a loose cannon. He is not the right man for the job, which is leading the Bangladesh cricket,” he said.

‘I have many fans in Bangladesh cricket. They love me very much. Starting from players like Mushfiqur, Mustafizur, Tamim, Shakib and everyone as a leader they decided they want the president to resign. He needs to resign,” the former Pakistani pacer added.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night the national cricketers withdrew their strike as BCB authorities assured them to fulfill the majority of their demands. The decision came after ‘a fruitful meeting’ between the cricketers and the BCB authorities.
