Youths urged to make themselves potential using digital

IT Live: Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar today urged the country's youth to grab the opportunities of digitalisation and make themselves useful and capable to meet the challenges of the digital age.

"The digital age is a golden age for the new generation and the government is determined to build country's potential young population as a useful human resource in the digital age," said Jabbar.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the 'GP Explorers' program organized by Grameenphone virtual in the capital today. BTRC Vice Chairman Subrata Roy Maitra and Grameenphone CEO Yasir Ajman also addressed on the occasion.

The minister said Bangladesh is now an example before the world in terms of economic, social or educational development as a result of government's successful implementation of the program of digitalising the country.

GP explorer is a specialized digital skills academy aimed at making university students up skilled and proficient in their technology related skills by developing soft and digital skills to bridge the gap between future careers and required skills.

More than 1,600 students from 64 universities applied for this year's GP Explorers event, out of which 356 students were selected. The 20-week upskilling program focuses on students' communication skills, entrepreneurial mindset and digital skills with academic knowledge.
