The bodies were recovered from inside the Room No. 411 of the hotel at about 3:00pm. The deceased mother was identified as Sudha Dey, 35, while her daughter's name could not be known. However, police said the child might be one to one and a half years old.

Hotel Sea Alif's general manager Ismail said Dulal Biswas and Sudha Dey got into the hotel along with their three children in the morning of February 14 last introducing themselves as husband and wife. They mentioned that they hailed from Banshkhali area in Chattogram. They were scheduled to leave the hotel on February 17. Accordingly, hotel employee Sakhawat went to the room at about 11:30am and saw that the bodies of a woman and a baby were lying there.

When asked, employee Sakhawat said: "I called loudly standing outside the room several times as they didn't get down from the room till 11:30am. As I didn't receive any response from inside, I later opened the door lock using an additional key at the directive of the general manager and found that the bodies of a woman and a child were lying on the floor. Instantly, we informed the police."

Cox's Bazar Tourists Police's additional police super Molla Mohammad Shahin said Dulal Biswas and Sudha Dey got into the Room No. 411 of the hotel along with their three children introducing them as husband and wife. Though the bodies of mother and a daughter were recovered from the hotel room, no trace was found about the husband and two other children.

Several teams of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have started working to find out why the woman and her daughter were murdered. The bodies were recovered and taken to a hospital morgue for autopsy.
