Annual Conference held at DU

DU Live: A day-long annual conference on “Plant Tissue Culture & Biotechnology” was held today at Dhaka University (DU) Botany Department auditorium. Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed the program as chief guest. Bangladesh Association for Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (BAPTC & B) organized the event.

President of BAPTC&B Prof. Dr. Rakha Hari Sarker presided over the inaugural function while Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of DU Prof. Dr Md. Imdadul Hoque and Director General of Bangladesh Sugar-crop Research Institute Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain addressed it as special guests. General Secretary of BAPTC&B Prof. Dr. Mihir Lal Shaha gave vote of thanks.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the researchers to play an effective role to develop agriculture sector in the country.  He  also stressed the need for preservation of bio-diversity. He called upon all concerned to work together to reduce risk in the fields of bioscience research. The VC paid his glowing tribute to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the month of mourning.

It may be mentioned that teachers and researchers from different universities and research institutions participated in the conference.
