Special Seminar on Guru Nanak’s Philosophy held at DU

DU Live: A day-long special seminar on “Guru Nanak’s Philosophy of Harmony and its Relevance to the present world” was held today at RC Majumdar auditorium of Dhaka University. Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed the seminar as chief guest. International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF) organized the event.

Former Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. K A M Saaduddin presided over the inaugural session while President of International Sikh Centre for Interfaith Relations  Bhai Nanak Singh Nishter addressed it as special guest. Prof. Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam and Associate Prof. Mohammad Jahangir Alam presented key-note speech.  Chairperson of the Department of World Religion & Culture Dr. Fazrin Huda delivered welcome address.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, Guru Nanak had played an effective role to establish religious harmony in the society. He stressed the need for taking lessons from Nanak’s philosophy to make a peaceful and secular society with the liberal, humanitarian and non-communal values.
