Live Correspondent: Seven BNP Members of Parliament (MPs) will submit their resignation letters to the Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday (December 11, 2022).

They are likely to hand over their resignation letters to the Speaker at her office in Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday.

Syed Emran Saleh Prince, acting office secretary of the party, has confirmed it.

The resignation of seven BNP MPs from parliament was announced on Saturday at a rally of the party held at Golapbagh on Saturday afternoon.

At that time, the MPs belonging to the BNP announced their resignation one after another. However, Chapainawabganj-3 constituency MP Md Harun ar Rashid was not present at the rally as he is now in Australia.

At the mass rally, Bogura-6 constituency MP Golam Mohammad Siraj said, "We have submitted our resignation letters to the party's acting chairman Tareque Rahman at the BNP standing committee meeting held on Friday last.

We will not go to Jatiya Sangsad anymore. Awami League didn't utter a single word for people in Jatiya Sangsad over the last four years. The party has turned parliament into a box of flattery."

He said, "I want to announce a decision at this public meeting. We are seven MPs in parliament. A decision was taken at the party's standing committee meeting on Friday last with our leader Tarique Rahman in the chair. We announce resignation from this mammoth human sea that we are resigning from parliament."

She said the MPs will send their resignation letters through email and will physically submit those to the Speaker on Sunday.

The seven lawmakers are Zahidur Rahman MP from Thakurgaon-3, Aminul Islam MP from Chapainawabganj-2, Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan MP from Brahmanbaria-2, reserved seat MP Barrister Rumeen Farhana, Mosharraf Hossain MP from Bogura-4 and Harunur Rashid MP from Chapainawabganj-3.

"We don't have any benefit to staying as MPs. We joined parliament to see how much space we get. But it is all the same, being MPs or not, so we have announced our resignation," Rumeen Farhana said.

Earlier, the party MPs were asked to resign from parliament as the party will announce a 10-point demand including the dissolution of parliament from Saturday's rally.
