Live Correspondent: Around 2,600 pre-primary students and guardians were given warm clothes as the gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina aimed at lessening their sufferings caused by the present cold weather.

Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton distributed the blankets among the cold-stricken people at the city bhaban conference hall today. Chaired by RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin, the distribution ceremony was attended and addressed, among others, by Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar and Director of RU Institute of Environmental Sciences Prof Sabrina Naz.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the warm clothes were distributed among the marginalized people taking the issue of their sufferings into special consideration. "We always remained beside the low-income and other underprivileged people to mitigate their problems," he said, adding more support will also be extended to them in the days to come.

Liton also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for welfare of the people, particularly the disadvantaged ones, amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation. He also urged the richer sections of the society and other volunteer and philanthropic organizations to stand beside the cold-hit people in the region with helping hands.
