Court accepts charge sheet against Matiur Rahman

Live Correspondent: A Dhaka court has accepted the charge sheet against Prothom Alo’s editor Matiur Rahman and nine others in a case filed over the death of ninth grader student of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) Nayeemul Abrar.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh on Thursday took the charge sheet into cognizance in presence of the accused.

The court also set October 13 for the hearing of charge framing against the accused in the case. Defence lawyer Prashanta Kumar Karmaker confirmed the information to Jago News. 

On November 1, 2019, Abrar was electrocuted by a power generator on the premises of DRMC, during an anniversary celebration organized by Prothom Alo’s youth magazine Kishor Alo.

In a case filed over Abrar’s death, his father Md Mojibur Rahman accused the organizers of negligence that led to the incident.

The accused include - Prothom Alo’s Editor Matiur Rahman, youth magazine Kishor Alo’s Editor Anisul Hoque and Prothom Alo employees Kabir Bakul, Shuvashish Pramanik Shuvo, Md Mahitul Alam Pavel, and Shah Paran Tushar.
