Live Correspondent: Defying the High Court order, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College assistant headmaster Jagdish Chandra Pal is still discharging his duties at the institution.

The High Court on Monday suspended reinstatement order of Jagdish Chandra Pal who was sacked on charges of undermining the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) making defamatory remarks on a Facebook messenger group.

The HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman came up with the rule following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akanda. The High Court also issued a rule asking why the reinstatement of the teacher would not be declared illegal.

Despite the higher court order, the school authorities are still allowing the teacher Jagdish at the school and college violating the High Court order.

Allegation also found that the suspended Jagdish reinstated his job at the school by managing a section of school authorities including Principal Kamrun Nahar. Despite repeated attempts, the Principal could not be reached over phone for comments.

Talking to the Daily Sun, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Guardian Forum General Secretary Abdul Majid Sujan, "Jagdish Pal is stilling doing his office defying the court order and it is a contempt of court."

"We want punishment of the teacher Jagdish for hurting religious sentiment of Muslim through his insulting remarks on our prophet," he said

Another leader of guardians, Anisur Rahman Anis told the that "A section of teacher-officers including the principal are trying to reinstate his job at the school for their personal interest."

The school authorities should follow the directives of the court and ensure punishment of Jagdish for his offences.

According to the sources, the governing body of the school on October 20, unanimously fired Jagadish Chandra Pal for insulting Hazrat Muhammad making defamatory remarks in a messenger group of the school.

But on November 2, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka suspended the decision of the governing body and reinstated Jagadish Chandra Pal in his job.

Later, challenging the governing body decision, lawyer Yunus Ali Akanda filed a writ with the High Court and sought directives in this regard.
