Families wail losing near and dear ones in Ctg train accident

Chattogram Live: Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) premises were gripped by crying and wailing of the relatives of those who were killed in a train and microbus accident at Mirsarai on Friday afternoon. A heart-wrenching sight occurred in the hospital area with the wailing of deceased youths' parents, brothers, friends, and close relatives. Families and relatives were crying, sitting here and there, or trying to identify their loved ones going to the morgue.

The accident happened when a microbus carrying the youths was rammed by a speeding train at Barotakia Railway Station in Mirsarai at about 1.45 pm on Friday.

Identities of six, out of 11 deceased have so far been known. They were Mahin, 18, Tanveer Hasan, 18, Junaid Hossain, 18, Ziaul Huq Sajib, Moshab Ahmed Hisham, and microbus driver Golam Mostofa Niru, 28.

All the deceased hailed from the Aman Bazar area under Hathazari Upazila in the Chattogram district. Except for the microbus driver, the rests were the teachers and students of R&J Coaching Centre situated at Jugipara in that area.

The dead and injured were brought to the CMCH. Deceased Ziaul Huq Sajib's father Abdul Hamid said, "Three friends including Sajib established this coaching center taking a loan of Tk 50,000. They set it up four months ago.

The loan is yet to be repaid. Sajib went to a picnic at about 7:30 am. We talked at that time. The son left the house taking my blessings. At about 2:00 pm, I received information that they met an accident."

Wailing for the son, the father said, "I work at a grocery shop. I have two sons and a daughter. Sajib was the eldest among all of them. Sajib had admitted to Honors at Omar Gani College on October 21, 2018. His Honours are yet to be ended. I could not pay his tuition fees due to poverty. My son used to teach at a house."

Ziaul Huque Sajib's younger brother Tousif had burst into tears along with his father.

Another student Moshab Ahmed Hisham was killed in the accident. Hisham was a student of that coaching center. He was an HSC examinee from Naju Mia High School in Hathazari Upazila. His relatives have burst into tears in the hospital area. Following his father's death, Hisham was raised by his uncle Manik.

Hisham's uncle said, "Hisham's father Mozaffar Ahmed died about five years ago. His mother Zahedunnesa Sikder lives with her elder daughter Sajida Afrin in Canada. Elder brother Jihad Ahmed lives in Australia. Another sister Joya lives with her husband in Dhaka. Hisham's mother, brother, and sisters do not know about his death in the accident. Hisham used to live with me. What would I tell Hisham's mother, brother, and sister now?"

Hisham's neighbor Nazim Uddin said, "Hisham was scheduled to leave for Canada. He was taking preparation to go to his mother after his SSC exams."

Deceased Mahin's uncle Alauddin Tipu said, "Mahin went to see Khoiyachhara fountain in the morning along with friends and teachers. Eleven people including Mahin died when they were coming back. Such tragic deaths of them cannot be accepted in any way."

Sitakunda Railway Police Outpost in charge Khorshed Alam said there were 16 passengers on board the microbus. Eleven of them died on the spot, while critically injured five were sent to the CMCH. The relatives of the deceased have been informed to receive the bodies of their near and dear ones.
