Live Correspondent: The government has been doing whatever it likes to cling to power, alleged opposition BNP's standing committee member Dr. Khondker Mosharraf Hossain.

"People don't want to see the present Awami League government in power anymore," he said, adding that people have decided to oust the government from power as quickly as possible.

Dr. Khondker Mosharraf Hossain was speaking at a discussion at Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Saturday (December 17, 2022).

Bangladesh Sanmilito Peshajibi Parishad (Bangladesh Combined Professionals' Council) organized the discussion.

The BNP leader said the people of Bangladesh have reached a 'consensus' to remove this government. "It has been proved through the mass rallies of the BNP at the division level. Even, the Pakistani occupation forces did not commit the brutality that the Awami League government did inside the BNP's central office over the party's December 10 divisional rally in Dhaka. This government is doing whatever it likes to do to cling to power."

The BNP standing committee member alleged that the Awami League men humiliated the American ambassador when he went to meet the family members of a victim of forced disappearance. "How would the government hide this," he asked.

Dr. Mosharraf alleged that whenever BNP announces to hold any rally, the Awami League regime directs the law enforcement agencies to tell the BNP that they aimed to hold the rally to create violence and anarchy in the country.

"We have held ten rallies in ten divisions, but they created all the obstacles so that BNP leaders and workers couldn't join their own rallies. Using law enforcement agencies, the government stopped plying buses and trucks so that BNP activists couldn't join their rallies. But the country's people took part in BNP rallies spontaneously.

They made the rallies a success. None will be able to deny it. We didn't need to hire anyone to make our rallies successful. People saw it, and it was also monitored internationally."

Mosharraf also alleged that the government was distorting all the true incidents to stay in power through fraudulent ways. BNP has announced a 10-point demand to foil all their conspiracies. "We must have to be more active to realize our demands," he said.

The BNP leader observed that the Awami League had destroyed democracy. It would not be possible to recover the economy which has been destroyed by them completely.

It would not be possible to free the judiciary which has been destroyed by them (Awami League). They also would not be able to arrest the price hike of essentials in any way because the Awami League men are responsible for it.

BNP vice chairman Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain chaired the discussion, while it was moderated by journalist leader Kader Gani Chowdhury.
