Chattogram Live:  City Awami League general secretary AJM Nasir Uddin was injured on Saturday when a glass-made door being broken fell on him due to the immense pressure of the party leaders and workers at a memorial meeting in the port city. The meeting was organized in memory of Chattogram South City Awami League president Moslem Uddin Ahmad who passed away recently.

However, Awami League general secretary and Road Transport minister Obaidul Quader who was beside AJM Nasir narrowly escaped unhurt. AJM Nasir's personal secretary Md Raihan confirmed it on Saturday (March 4) evening.

"Nasir Sir has received injuries on his head. He was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment," he said.

Md Raihan said a memorial meeting in remembrance of Chattogram South City Awami League president Moslem Uddin Ahmad was organized at International Convention Centre at Kazir Dewri in Chattogram city on Saturday afternoon. Along with AL general secretary Obaidul Quader, several ministers and deputy ministers of Awami League were present. Following the memorial meeting, AL senior leaders including Obaidul Quader were coming out of the convention center at about 6:15 pm. Just at that time, one of three glass-made doors broke down and fell on AJM Nasir, and several police personnel though Obaidul Quader narrowly escaped unhurt.

Several leaders present at the meeting said Obaidul Quader appeared visibly shattered following the incident. He was also looking very disappointed and frustrated.

At that time, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, Awami League Office Secretary Biplob Barua, and local leaders were present.

It may be recalled that on January 6 last, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader fell down along with other leaders of the party when the stage collapsed due to the pressure of leaders and workers at the 75th founding anniversary of Dhaka University Chhatra League on January 6 last. Though several persons were injured, Obaidul Quader narrowly escaped unhurt.
