AL finalises mayoral candidates for five city corporation elections

 

Live Correspondent: The Awami League authorities on Saturday finalised the party’s candidate for upcoming elections of five city corporations, said the party’s general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader.

The decision was taken at Awami League Local Government Nomination Board meeting held at the party president and Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s official residence Ganabhaban.

The party nominated Rajshahi city mayor Khairuzzaman Liton as its candidate for the upcoming Rajshahi City Corporation election.

Khulna city incumbent mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque has been nominated as AL candidate for the Khulna City Corporation election.

The party has nominated Abul Khair Abdullah as its mayoral candidate for Borishal City Corporation election. Azmat Ullah Khan has been nominated as the AL mayoral candidate for Gazipur City Corporation election.

United Kingdom Awami League joint general secretary Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury has been nominated as the mayoral candidate for the upcoming Sylhet City Corporation election.
