Rape of pregnant beautician: Arrested two students on remand

 

Live Correspondent: Two private university students, arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a five-month-old beautician at a house at Sukrabad in the capital, have been placed on a two-day remand.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shuvra Chakravarty placed the accused Md Riad and Yasin Hossain Siam on a two-day remand after they were produced before the court on Friday (October 14, 2022) in connection with a case filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Earlier on Thursday, the accused were arrested by police from the Sukrabad area. At that time, the victim's mobile phone was also recovered from the accused.

It is learnt that the woman offers beauty-parlour services to women and girls visiting houses after receiving orders on Facebook. On Tuesday (October 11), she came to Dhanmondi Boy's School at Road No. 28 from Savar after receiving an order from a woman over the phone. Then the caller received the beautician through a youth. The youth then took the woman to a two-storeyed house where three youths gang-raped her confining her into a room. Despite the woman pleading to the rapists that she was pregnant for five months, the rapists didn't spare her. Then the rapists let her go threatening to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone else.

Later, the woman went to Gabtoli by a rickshaw and called her husband inserting her mobile phone SIM into another person's mobile phone. Then her husband came and took her house to Hazaribagh.

On Thursday (October 13) morning, a case was filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station accusing four persons. The woman is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The elder brother of the rape victim woman told mass media that the accused had raped his sister. "We want justice."

The beautician's husband told reporters that his wife learnt parlour works. She offers beauty parlour services visiting homes. They published an advertisement online. Then she got an order and went to Dhanmondi Road No. 28 receiving a phone call. Then she was gang-raped at a house in the Sukrabad area.
