30 injured in BCL infighting at CU, 25 hall rooms vandalised

CU Live: At least 30 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were injured when three rival groups locked into series of clashes on Chittagong University (CU) campus during early Thursday to this morning.
The infighting broke out over establishing supremacy on the campus at around 1:00 am when members of BCL factions ‘Sixty Nine’, ‘Concord’ and ‘Bijoy’ clashed with one another on the CU campus.
On information, at least 25 rooms of F Rahman Hall of the university was vandalised during the clash, that continued till Thursday morning.
Six improvised bombs were blasted during the clashes while the windowpanes and doors of the hall were also ransacked.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Belal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station.
Police also arrested 52 people from the spot. Additional police have been deployed on the campus to avert further trouble.
