Live Correspondent: People blocked Shahbagh intersection in the capital on Monday, protesting the horrific incident of Noakhali housewife’s molestation that has gone viral on social media.
The protesters demanded resignation of the home minister for his failure to stop the incidents of rape and oppression against women across the country.
Around 100 protesters took positions at Shahbagh intersection carrying posters in the morning.They blocked the road around 11am and chanted various slogans against growing violence against women.
The housewife of Noakhali's Begumganj upazila was molested by some local miscreants at Ward No. 9 of Eklashpur Union of the upazila last month and a video of the barbaric incident has gone viral on the internet on Sunday.
The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media. Five youths, including Delwar and his associates Badal, Kalam and Abdur Rahim, molested the housewife on September 2.

A housewife in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila was allegedly molested by some local miscreants in Ward No. 9 of Eklashpur Union of the upazila recently and a video of the incident has gone viral on the internet.
Five youths including Delwar, chief of the local Delwar force and his assistants Badal, Kalam and Abdur Rahim, molested the housewife 33 days ago.
The housewife filed a case against nine people around 1am on Monday. Police arrested two of them. They are Abdur Rahim, 20 and Md Rahmat Ullah, 41, Jago News’ Noakhali Correspondent confirmed the matter. The accused stripped the housewife naked and beat her despite her crying for mercy.
A video of the incident came to the notice of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Alamgir Hossain and he directed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Model Police Station Harun Aur Rashid Chowdhury to take action in this regard.
SP Alamgir Hossain said police found her at her father's house on Sunday evening. However, she could not confirm the exact date of the incident that took place. Five police units are conducting operations to arrest the rest of the accused.
