500 sued over clash between RU students and locals

RU Live: A case has been filed against 500 anonymous people over the clash between locals and students of the Rajshahi University in Rajshahi’s Binodpur Gate area.
The university registrar Abdus Salam lodged the case with Motihar Police Station, said Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) spokesperson Rafiqul Alam. However, police have arrested Taslim Alim, 45, in this connection.
On Sunday, students staged a demonstration in front of the administration building of the university and locked the building protesting at last night’s clash involving local people of Binodpur and the students of Rajshahi University.
The protesting students chanted slogans with their six-point demands, calling for justice.
More than 200 people were injured in a clash that broke out between Rajshahi University students and locals on Saturday evening.
The clash ensued when a student of the university locked into altercation with a bus staff over sitting in a bus. During the clash, the students set fire to several shops in the area.
Rajshahi University has announced the closure of all classes and examinations on Sunday and Monday through a notification.
