Drugs, arms, torture machines seized from Samrat’s office

Live Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized some 1,160 yaba tablets, foreign liquour, electric torture machines and arms from detained Jubo League leader Ismail Chowdhury Samrat’s office at Kakrail in the capital.

Two kangaroo hides, foreign guns and six rounds of ammunition were also seized from alleged casino king’s office during a raid by the elite force on Sunday afternoon.

“One foreign-made pistol, one magazine, five bullets, 19 bottles of foreign liquor, two machines of providing electric shocks and 1,160 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from the office of Samrat”, said Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem, director, legal and media wing of RAB after the end of the raid around 6:20 pm.

Two separate cases will be filed against Samrat, he said.“Who’s Samrat’s godfather and who was behind him will be known after interrogation in remand,”Kashem added.

A team of RAB, led by Md Sarwar Alam, started the raid at Samrat’s office in his presence around 1:30pm after he and his associate Arman, removed vice president of Jubo League, were arrested from Cumilla’s Chauddagram upazila this morning.  

Samrat lands in jail for wildlife law violation

Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Samrat, who was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in illegal casino business and later sentenced for six months imprisonment under Wildlife Preservation and Security Act for possessing a skin of Kangaroo, has landed in Dhaka Central Jail at Keraniganj.
