Corona spreads to 60 districts

Live Correspondent: Coronavirus has spread to 60 districts of the country so far as seven more people have died of the disease and 497 new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.“Coronavirus has spread to 60 districts. Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Khulna and Natore are still free from the disease,” DGHS Additional Director General (Admin) Nasima Sultana said.

She provided the information while addressing a daily online health bulletin about the latest coronavirus situation in Bangladesh.
The DGHS official said nine more Covid-19 patients have made recovery, raising the total recovery toll to 131 so far."Very soon we will gather information about those who recovered at home," she said.

Nasima said the number of deaths from coronavirus and new infection cases have risen a little bit in the past 24 hours till Monday morning. She said seven more patients have died of Covid-19 and 497 new infection cases have been detected in the past 24 hours after testing 3,812 samples.

With the latest figures, the death toll from the disease has risen to 152 and that of infection cases to 5,913. A total of 50,401 samples have been tested so far till the day.

Among the deceased, six were males and one was female. Five were from Dhaka and one each from Sylhet and Rajshahi, she said.
On Sunday, five more patients died from Covid-19 and 418 new infection cases have been detected in the past 24 hours after testing 3,473 samples.

Prof Nasima also said 71, 372 people are staying in home quarantine, 6,307 in intuitional quarantine and 1220 in hospital and other isolation. She said 601 institutions are ready with accommodation of 30,635 people for institutional quarantine.

The government is supplying adequate PPE and testing kits across the country and there is enough supply of the kits, she said. The DGHS official advised people to follow health directives, to stay home and not to go outside without urgent need, to wear mask and wash hands frequently with soap and water to avoid coronavirus infection.
