MP Moslem, nine family members contract coronavirus

DU Live: MP Moslem Uddin, nine family members contract coronavirus Awami League MP from Chattogram-8 constituency (Boalkhali) Moslem Uddin Ahmed and nine of his family members have been infected with coronavirus.
Civil Surgeon of Chattogram Dr Fazle Rabbi said a medical team from Boalkhali Health Complex collected samples from the MP and 14 of his family members on June 9 and the reports of 10 of them came out positive early Thursday. The infected family members include MP’s wife, son and grandchildren, he said.
With this, a total of 108 people, including a physician and an employee of the divisional commissioner’s office, were found infected with Covid-19 in the district in the last 24 hours till Wednesday, the civil surgeon said.
Moslem Uddin was elected MP from the parliamentary seat in the by-polls held on January 13 last.
The constituency fell vacant following the death of Moin Uddin Khan Badal, executive president of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasod), who died at a hospital in India on November 7 last at the age of 67.
Earlier, Awami League MP from Chattogram-16 constituency (Banshkhali) Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury, six of his family members and four of his support staff were diagnosed with coronavirus on June 2.
Mustafiz’s wife, three daughters, one son-in-law, one grandchild, his assistant personal secretary and three domestic helps were among the infected people.
