BSMMU physician Zahirul Hasan dies from coronavirus

DU Live: Dr Gazi Zahirul Hasan, a professor of the Paediatric Surgery department at Bangladesh Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) died early Friday while undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection. 

He breathed his last around 1:15am at the intensive care unit of at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Bangladesh Doctors Foundation’s chief administrator Dr Nirupam Das. 

Zahirul tested positive for the deadly virus around two weeks back and he was admitted to the DMCH last week as his condition worsened said BSMMU VC Prof Kanak Kanti Barua.

Zahirul, a student of the 17th batch of Mymensingh Medical College, finally lost the battle for his life at the hospital.

With the fresh one, around 28 doctors have so far died from the coronavirus in the country.
