Covid 19: BD reports 88 more deaths, 3,629 new cases

Live Correspondent: Bangladesh confirmed 88 more Covid-19 death in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 10,669, according to a handout released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday afternoon.

The country has recorded 3,629 new cases of the coronavirus, taking the tally to 739,703. The infection rate on Friday further dropped to 14% in the country.

It said 14.00 percent of the 25,896 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive while the infection rate was only 2.30 percent just on February 8 this year as during the late winter season, the rate started decreasing sharply.

The samples are tested at 349 authorized medical laboratories across the country during the time as the government put in efforts to increase the number of testing centers gradually with resurgence of the pandemic.

The recovery count rose to 6,47,674 after another 5,225 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 87.56 percent recovered, while 1.47 percent died.
