Covid claims 58, infects 2,588 more in Bangladesh

Live Correspondent: Covid claimed lives of 58 more people and infected 2,588 in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Thursday morning. With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 26,794 and infections to 15,24,890 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 8.76 per cent. Among the deceased, 35 are male and 23 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 29,541 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 789 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 91,75,912 samples as of September 9.

In the past 24 hours, 3,617 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 14,68,211.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 22 and Chattogram logged 19 deaths.
